The Alliance exists to ensure that youth in the Brooklyns reach their fullest potential, and we know that experiences of discrimination and violence blocks their ability to do so. We are committed to mobilizing a youth-led and adult-supported campaign to stop hate crimes, incidents and to build community.

Communities Combatting Hate is a coalition advocating for policy change to make Minnesota safe for all Minnesotans, no exceptions. Their website also connects individuals with organizations for reporting instances of hate.

Building Effective Strategies to Address Identity-Based Harm in Schools Data.

In partnership with the Osseo Area School District, BBAY is working to evaluate the implementation of their Identity-Based Harm Protocol. The Anti-Hate Project targets identity-based harm in schools with a youth-driven approach in education and actions to tackle hate and bullying, emphasizing understanding young people’s experiences on well-being and safety.

Anti-Hate Youth Participatory Evaluation with Osseo Area School District:

1. Assess and Evaluate the implementation of Identity-based Harm Response Protocol in Park Center and Osseo Senior High Schools

2. Raise awareness of identity-based harm and support services, including how data is tracked

3. Convene Partners to explore the new protocol and how it may be used in other settings.

What is a Youth Participatory Evaluation (YPE)?

Of the multiple core values the Brooklyn Bridge Alliance for Youth, one is to be youth-centered and youth-led. At the core of this project is just that. The evaluation project utilizes a Youth Participatory Evaluation method to ensure youth voices are at the center of the work we do. A number of youth interns have been hired to bring forth their unique perspectives and experiences at either Park Center High School or Osseo Senior High School to work alongside the BBAY and Osseo Area School District to evaluate the implementation of the Identity-based Harm Protocol. Youth learn and conduct evaluation in spaces that affect their lives and will be able to provide recommendations for use within their community.
