Youth as Facilitative Leaders

Youth as Facilitative Leaders

Equity through youth leadership and inclusion

Our Challenge

So often young people are not included in decision making that impacts their lives. Rarely are they in leadership or co-leadership positions to solve the challenges facing our communities. Without their engagement solutions may be ineffective or at worst, harmful.

Our Solution

Create the space for youth and adults to learn the skills needed to lead in an inclusive way.

YFL is an opportunity to connect and bridge the gap of inequality and inequity for youth in their community by raising the voice and power of youth through facilitative leadership. This facilitation method incorporates an approach to empower youth and adults to create safe and action-oriented spaces that advance shared efforts that are inclusive, equitable, and participatory.

We have seen the YFL act as a powerful tool to advance racial equity when it is used to create space whenever possible for voices that are not typically in the room.
