Announcing: Free College Campaign 2024!

In 2019 BBAY launched the Stop Drop and Enroll research to learn from 1st-year students at Hennepin Technical College and North Hennepin Community College why they dropped out or stopped out (left and returned). This research led us to 2 years of collective action to address the issues we found to helped to increase student retention. BBAY Building a foundation with youth leadership, community engagement and partnership commitments

Black Joy Retreat at St. Croix State Park In April the board approved a NEW strategic plan. BBAY staff have been moving forward with youth outreach and engagement while laying the groundwork for collective action. Key highlights since April: BBAY partners named their commitments and built workplans. Staff adapted outreach practices to include all youth and community, especially those historically marginalized, to be aware of and invited to engage in opportunities throughout the community. Staff expanded youth and community engagement in the Reimagine Black Youth Mental Health initiative through the Black Joy Summer Project. Staff activated the Recreation Equity Initiatives to ensure equitable access to sports, wellbeing, facilities, and programs. BBAY secured a new Hennepin County grant to advance our Anti-Hate work while expanding our Youth Participatory Evaluation. BBAY team onboarded new full-time staff - Meet Chia Xiong! And

Commission Openings Applications due by June 15, 2023 The City Council is looking for the next generation of community builders and leaders who are interested in a better Brooklyn Park. As a resident committed to a vibrant and progressive community, we need your passion and participation on city boards and commissions. No experience is necessary—only your commitment to building a strong, vibrant Brooklyn Park. All lawful residents of Brooklyn Park are eligible to participate. New directions - Revitalized Strategic Plan Approved!

Since the fall of 2022 Alliance youth and adult partners have worked to REVITALIZE our collective plan for action. During this time, the voices, views, and wisdom of our youth and adult partners has been gathered through 714 moments. Through this process we learned that there is a lot of love for the work we have done in the past, and are currently doing together. And, that because of our relationships we are ready to go deeper as we realize our new shared vision: The Brooklyn Bridge Alliance contributes to the thriving of each young person, particularly those who have been historically marginalized, by challenging inequities and creating conditions that build hope.
