  • Brooklyns Youth Council (BYC) Intern

    2019-2020 school year, 5-10 hours per week

    $1,000 stipend plus professional development 


    Position Summary


    The Brooklyns Youth Council is a group of youth from Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center whose mission is to represent youth in the Brooklyns by providing a voice in collaboration with the community and local government in order to positively raise awareness of challenges youth face. This is an 5-10 hours a week opportunity with a $1,000 stipend from August – June. 


    The Brooklyns Youth Council is a part of the Brooklyn Bridge Alliance for Youth, an inter-governmental agency founded by the public jurisdictions in Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park. The Alliance's purpose is to coordinate the work of our partners in order to increase graduation rates, pathways to college and career, and safety and well-being. We do this by working together with youth, school, city, county and college staff in order to make changes across the community.

    The purpose of this internship is support the Brooklyns Youth Council members. The Youth Council is supported by Youth and Community Engagement Initiative Coordinator and the Youth Engagement Americorp VISTA. 


    The Brooklyns Youth Council intern will experience a relevant and rigorous opportunity to build skills, challenge themselves, and gain experience and connections in the fields of education, administration, and youth work. They will also build skills in leadership, facilitation, teamwork, project management, public speaking, and networking.

    government in order to positively raise awareness of problems facing youth.


    Applicants MUST live in or go to school in Brooklyn Center or Brooklyn Park, and be entering into grades 9-12 to apply.
