Private Sector Coalition
Meet the Business, Philanthropic and Community Champions that Accelerate Youth Success
These champions see big potential in our young people, and care deeply about their health, well-being, educational and career aspirations. Together they see a unique opportunity to partner with County, City, Schools and Colleges to Accelerate Youth Success.
Goals:
- Accelerate Youth Success so that each youth in the Brooklyns graduates high school finds their pathway to college and career, and is safe and well,
- Build a coalition of private sector leaders to partner with the Alliance Board of Directors to develop an educated, engaged and healthy workforce,
- Advance the community engagement, corporate responsibility, or philanthropic goals of coalition members, and
- Connect resources from private sector partners to local efforts in schools, recreation centers, county programs, and afterschool programs that get results.
How it works:
- Join the Coalition by providing a letter of support
- Consider a contribution of any amount to the Alliance that supports the coalition launch
- Coalition members connect for bi-annual forums with to network, and learn about priorities and opportunities for accelerating youth success in the Brooklyns
- Alliance staff will facilitate connections between coalition members and Alliance partners

Results:
- Coalition members will support the Accelerating Youth Strategic Plan; which includes several projects and initiatives that impact youth:
- Online Program Locator – created to expand access and build a database of opportunity in the Brooklyns
- Youth Sports Initiative – Community engagement and needs assessment to expand access to sports for non-participating youth and families
- Stop, Drop and Enroll – College dropout study to address retention and persistence issues for 1st year students at North Hennepin and Hennepin Technical College
- Brooklyn’s Youth Council – youth leadership program that provide input on youth issues and takes actions to address youth issues in community
- Motivation Youth Festival – annual event to motivate youth in school, health and life
- Bringing together 7 workgroups, including over 120 people – to accomplish our strategic plan
